SERVICE

Atwhinatanga Service is one of the Core Mercy Values. As people in a community we can provide service in many ways, such as creating a hospitable environment, promoting quality care and excellence in and learning, demonstaring team spirit and showing openness to constructive criticism.

Creating an enviroment of welcome and hospatility is a great way to show service. People can do this by always making others, whether they are new to a school or job, feel welcome. It could be as simple as showing them around the premisise or having a friendly conversation with them.

Promoting quality care and excellence in teaching and learning shows the Core Mery Value Service. Taking care of people in need is a very important service to show. We often have people in our lives who are unwell or injured that we can offer our service to. By showing excellence in teaching and learning, we are trying our best to succeed, so that we can better our community with all the knowledge we have gained. Examples of this could include becoming a teacher whose job it is to educate the younger generation.

Another way people show Awhinatanga Service, is by encouraging and demonstrating team spirit. We do this when we cheer on a team member or encourage others to try something new. It is important to show this service, because it helps to make others feel better and more confident.

Showing openness to constuctive criticism and feedback, demonstates service. If we listen to the ideas that others gve us to better ourselves or our work we are being open to feeback, whether it is what we want to hear or not.
